MOMMY & ME
Ages 2 & 3 This creative movement class meets once a week for 30 minutes. It is designed for the parent/caregiver and child to dance and learn together. Through songs, stories, and play, children will learn important skills, such as listening, following directions, taking turns, and standing in line. This class will help the child gain self-confidence and increase vocabulary, flexibility, strength, discipline, and creativity. |
PRE-BALLET/CREATIVE MOVEMENT Ages 3 & 4 This drop-off class meets once a week for 45 minutes. Students must be potty trained and three years of age on or before August 30 of the current year. The young dancer will be introduced to basic ballet steps and positions, while enhancing their motor skills and coordination with fun, age-appropriate music and games. Students learn good listening skills, proper classroom etiquette, and how to move and interact with other children. |
BALLET/JAZZ/TAP 1 Kindergarten This class is for Kindergarteners and meets once a week for one hour. In this class students receive 20 minutes of ballet, 20 minutes of jazz, and 20 minutes of tap instruction. Dancers will learn the basic steps and terminology in ballet, jazz, and tap, while developing their coordination, balance and flexibility. Emphasis is placed on developing good listening skills, practicing proper classroom etiquette, and showing respect for the instructor and other children. |
BALLET 2 1st and 2nd This class is for 1st and 2nd graders and meets once a week for 45 minutes. In Ballet 2 the focus is on developing a strong technical foundation and proper body alignment. This class includes basic barre exercises, center practice, and across the floor combinations, while building strength, proper alignment, and agility. Students will learn basic ballet terms and proper stretching technique. |
BALLET 3 3rd-5th This class is for 3rd and 4th graders and 5th graders with less than one year of ballet training. It meets once a week for one hour. Ballet 3 will build on the foundations of Ballet 2. Dancers will continue their training through barre exercises, center, and across the floor work. Emphasis is placed on developing correct posture and preparing the body for the demands of classical dance. |
JAZZ/TAP 3 3rd-5th This class is for 3rd and 4th graders and 5th graders with less than one year of ballet training. It meets once a week for one hour. Students will receive 30 minutes of jazz and 30 minutes of tap instruction. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class in order to take Jazz/Tap 3. |
BALLET 4/Pre-Pointe 5th-12th This class is for 5th and 6th graders. It is also for 7th-12th graders who have had less than three consecutive years of ballet training. It meets once a week for one hour. Students will progress in their technique through barre work, center, and across the floor exercises. This class will focus on strengthening the core, developing center of balance, and reinforcing correct foot and ankle positioning in order to prevent injury and prepare the student for dancing en pointe. |
JAZZ/TAP 4 5th-12th This class is for 5th and 6th graders. It is also for 7th-12th graders who have had less than three consecutive years of jazz/tap training. It meets once a week for one hour. Students will receive 30 minutes of jazz and 30 minutes of tap instruction. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class in order to take Jazz/Tap 4. |
BALLET 5 & Pointe 7th-12th This class is for grades 7-12 and meets twice a week. To enroll in this class students are required to have had at least three consecutive years of ballet training or permission from the instructor. This advanced ballet class focuses on improving core strength, extension, flexibility, and head/arm coordination. To ensure readiness, dancers will continue to dance in flats until they receive permission from the instructor to dance en pointe. |
JAZZ/TAP 5 7th-12th This class is for 7th-12 graders who have had at least three consecutive years of jazz and tap training or permission from the instructor. It meets once a week for one hour. Students will receive 30 minutes of jazz and 30 minutes of tap instruction. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class in order to take Jazz/Tap 5. |
CONTEMPORARY 1 3rd-6th This class is for 3rd-6th graders who have had at least one year of ballet training or permission from the instructor. It meets once week for one hour. Contemporary dance is a combination of ballet, jazz, lyrical, and modern and emphasizes interpretation of music, while telling a story through movement. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class in order to take Modern/Contemporary. |
CONTEMPORARY 2
7th-12th This class is for 7th-12th graders who have had at least two consecutive years of ballet training or permission from the instructor. It meets once a week for one hour. The class combines elements of Modern and Contemporary dance. Contemporary dance is a combination of ballet, jazz, lyrical, and modern and emphasizes interpretation of music, while telling a story through movement. Modern dance encourages the freedom of expression, improvisation, innovation, and creative exploration of movement. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class in order to take Modern/Contemporary. |
HIP HOP
4th-12th This class is for grades 4-12 and meets once a week for one hour. This beginner class will expose the student to all of the elements of this urban dance style, including breaking, popping, and locking. It is a fun and active class, which focuses on body coordination and control to upbeat music. We are currently seeking a Hip Hop instructor for the 2022-2023 dance season. |
LITURGICAL DANCE 1 1st-12th This class is for grades 1-12 and meets once a week for one hour. The purpose of this class is to encourage and inspire each student to grow in their relationship with God, while exploring dance as a form of worship. Each class will open with prayer and have a short devotional, using an age appropriate weekly devotional. A blend of contemporary Christian music, as well as tasteful secular music, will be used. The class will have performance opportunities throughout the year, allowing students the opportunity to minister to others through the art of movement and worship. |
